My very first beauty pageant was the Miss Mini Dollar 2011 at Sun City on 26 November 2011. A lady at my mom's work gave her an invitation, and my uncle John and aunt Natasja had my dress made by auntie Olive Henning.
My dress was beautiful and I felt like a real princess!
The competition was at the Valley of the Waves at Sun City. We arrived just after 8am and stood in the queue to register and get my number. There were so many girls and you should see the dresses! Off we went to the change rooms to get ready for the show. The change rooms were so full with dresses, make-up, bags and more bags all over. Mom and I took one look and decided that we would rather look for a quiet spot somewhere else!
I was nervous because it was my first time on a ramp and didn’t know what to do or what to expect, but I decided I’m just gonna be me and have fun! For a minute it was scary up there, with all those people staring at you. Luckily that scary feeling didn’t last long and I really enjoyed it.
Time for the prize giving! I was so excited and nervous at the same time. They would call out the top 10 girls first and from there the top 3 winners. I couldn’t believe it when they called my name! I did it, I made top 10 in my very first pageant. We received goodie bags filled with sweets, gifts, bubble bath and lots more.
And that is how it all started…
